The trainer at the trainer workstation can switch views of operations on trainee workstations through hardware control on the control panel, such as radar display, images, and ECDIS operation, and can also monitor operations on trainee workstations so as to make appropriate instructions.
The navigation radar simulator has a total of four trainee practice workstations, each of which can accommodate three trainees for operations at the same time. One trainee operates engine order telegraph and rudder, one trainee monitors radar and ECDIS, and one trainee executes positioning on the chart table. The chart table also provides a space for discussions among the three trainees on positioning and routing.
The simulator classroom can accommodate up to 30 trainees. Trainees can also enter the simulator for exercises after class. In addition, in class, the projector can project trainee operations, such as navigation path, operations of engine order telegraph and rudder, visual images at trainee workstations, radar images at trainee workstations, and ECDIS, onto the screen, so as to improve teaching quality.
The preceding figure shows the operation interface of the simulator, ARPA radar, engine order telegraph and rudder, and charts on ECDIS.
The preceding figure shows the area of Port of Kaohsiung that a genuine radar has scanned with the center of MTC, which is useful for demonstration in teaching and exercise.
